Coast Guard searching for person in water near Boynton Beach Inlet

MIAMI — Coast Guard crews are assisting in the search for a 16-year-old male in the water near Boynton Beach Inlet, Fla., Monday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Miami received a report at approximately 7:45 p.m. from Boynton Beach Police Department of a person swimming with no shirt on in the vicinity of the north jetty at Boynton Beach. The reporting source stating he was swimming with his cousin when he noticed that he had gone under water and had not resurfaced.

Smallboat crews from Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet, Fla., and an MH-65 Helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami were launched to search the area.

Palm Beach Fire Rescue and Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office crews are also searching the area.
