NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is searching for a person in the water in the Tombigbee River near McIntosh, Alabama, Friday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report Thursday at 8:55 p.m. of a vessel with two people aboard that grounded in the Tombigbee River. An 87-year-old man was reported to have gone into the water due to the incident.
The other person received a leg injury and was transported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency to the University of South Alabama Medical Center in stable condition.
Sector watchstanders directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to assist in the search.
