Coast Guard searching for person in the water near Venice Pier

VENICE, Calif.- The Coast Guard is searching Monday for Brian Patrick Dunn, a 31-year-old male from West Hollywood, in the vicinity of the Venice Pier after he reportedly jumped from the pier at approximately 2 a.m. Monday morning.

Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received the call early Monday and dispatched a 41-foot Utility Boat from Coast Guard Station Los Angeles-Long Beach and an MH-65C Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles. Coast Guard Cutter Blackfin, homeported in Santa Barbara, Calif., is also aiding in the search.

Dunn was reported to be intoxicated and not wearing a lifejacket at the time.

Los Angeles County Fire – Lifeguard Division and Los Angeles Police Department are also aiding in the search.
