Coast Guard searching for person in the water near Throgs Neck Bridge

1st Coast Guard District NewsNEW YORK – Coast Guard rescue boat and helicopter crews are searching for a person in the water near the Throgs Neck Bridge, Bronx, N.Y.

Coast Guard Sector New York watchstanders received the report from Citywide Dispatch service that a person believed to be a construction worker, fell from the Throgs Neck Bridge just after 8 a.m.

Two boat crews from Coast Guard Station King’s Point, N.Y., are currently on scene performing a search for the person. A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., and the Coast Guard Cutter Ridley are also en route to assist in the search efforts.

It is unknown at this time how the person fell from the bridge.

The Coast Guard is working closely with its partners at the New York Fire and Police Department to find the person.
