Coast Guard searching for person in the water near Dauphin Island, Alabama

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard and local agencies are searching for a person in the water near Dauphin Island, Alabama, Tuesday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report at approximately 7:21 a.m. from the fishing vessel Captain Johnny that the captain of the vessel, Thi Ban Lee, had fallen overboard near the northwestern end of Dauphin Island.

It was reported Lee was wearing black pants, red socks, and a camouflage jacket.

Involved in the search are:

  • A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter air crew
  • Two Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrews
  • Coast Guard Cutter Gannet
  • Lower Alabama Search and Rescue
  • Daphne Search and Rescue
  • Alabama State Troopers helicopter
  • North Baldwin Sherriff’s Search and Rescue
