Coast Guard searching for overdue boaters near Pensacola

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is searching for three overdue boaters near Pensacola, Florida, Thursday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report that a man and his two sons had not returned by the anticipated time. They launched from Navy Point Boat Launch in Bayou Grande.

Missing are:

  • David Washington, 80 years old, hometown unknown
  • David Washington Jr., age and hometown unknown
  • Darryl Washington, age and hometown unknown

While conducting a search pattern, a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircrew located a capsized vessel matching the description of the boat the overdue mariners were on.

Involved in the search are:

  • Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed wing aircrew
  • Coast Guard Station Pensacola 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew
  • Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew
  • Coast Guard Cutter Gannet crew
  • Florida Fish and Wildlife helicopter crew
  • Escambia County Search and Rescue
