Coast Guard searching for overdue boaters in Nassau

60 Elizabeth CityMIAMI – The Coast Guard is searching Monday for three missing boaters in Nassau, Bahamas, who were last seen Saturday in Staniel Cay, Exuma.

Missing are Julian Wallace, Tino Greenslade and Eugene.

Operation Bahamas, Turks and Caicos (OPBAT) received a request for assistance from The Royal Bahamas Defense Force Sunday after they received notification of the three overdue boaters who were reported to be aboard an 18-foot white and blue skiff.  A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center is searching for the boaters who departed Nassau at 11 a.m. Saturday with plans to reach the Ragged Islands.

OPBAT is a combined DEA, Coast Guard, and Government of Bahamas partnership to combat drug smuggling to and from the Bahamas. The OPBAT Operations Center is responsible for initiating and prosecuting law enforcement cases in the Bahamian and Turks and Caicos area of responsibility (AOR). In addition, OPBAT personnel assist with prosecuting human smuggling and assist with search and rescue cases throughout the AOR.
