BOSTON — The Coast Guard is searching for at least one overdue boater between Point Judith, R.I., and Newport, R.I., Mon., Aug. 2, 2010.
Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England received a call around 10 p.m., from friends of the missing boater after he did not return for dinner as planned. He may have had a crewman aboard as well.
Overdue is: Brett Knight, owner of the 38-foot commercial trawler Jawz.
Knight’s trawler has a grey hull and white superstructure that left Point Judith around 5:30 p.m., and was expected in Newport around 7:30 p.m.
Coast Guard stations Castle Hill and Point Judith are searching from Point Judith to Newport and the surrounding areas.
