Coast Guard searching for overdue boater near Morehead City, N.C.

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – Coast Guard Sector North Carolina is searching for a missing 47-year-old man who departed the Morehead City Wildlife Ramp onboard a 22-foot skiff Wednesday afternoon.

Missing is Ernest Aguayo, Jr.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina began searching after receiving a report from Aguayo’s father at 6:00 p.m., stating that his son left the ramp at approximately 11:00 a.m., for a fishing trip and hadn’t returned.

A Coast Guard C-130 search and rescue crew from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., and a search and rescue helicopter crew from Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point were launched to search for Aguayo.
