Coast Guard searching for overdue boater near Boca Raton, Fla.

7th Coast Guard District NewsMIAMI, Fla. -The Coast Guard is searching for an overdue boater approximately seven miles east of Boca Raton Fla., Wednesday.

Randall David Ward, 58, from Minnesota departed from the Bahia Mar Marina in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Tuesday in a rented 24-foot Hurricane Sundeck boat.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Miami were notified at approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday by a marina employee reporting that Ward, who was due back by 7 p.m. had not returned with the rented boat.

A Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet. Fla., boatcrew was immediately launched and located Ward’s rented boat floating adrift with no signs of Ward.
