Coast Guard searching for overdue boater between Fort Pierce Florida and Bahamas

MIAMI — The Coast Guard is searching for an overdue boater Monday between Fort Pierce, Fla., and the Bahamas.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Miami received a report at 1:46 p.m. Sunday stating Richard McClow, 79, from Naperville, Ill., departed Fort Pierce late Thursday night enroute to Marsh Harbor, Bahamas, where he was scheduled to arrive Friday evening.

According to the report from McClow’s friend, the boat he was traveling on is a 23-foot white cuddy cabin with green trim. The boat is named Hoponose and it has a single, 225-horsepower Yamaha engine.

Anyone with information regarding McClow’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Coast Guard at 305-415-6800.

  • The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Cormorant
  • The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Bluefin
  • A C-130 fixed-wing aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla.
  • An HU-25 Falcon jet crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami
