Coast Guard searching for missing Waipahu man

HONOLULU – Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point aircraft rescue crews are searching for a missing Waipahu man 30 miles west of Oahu.

Crews are searching for Charles D. Wilson, 56, who is presumed missing after his 25-foot sailing vessel, H20 IQ, was found disabled and adrift 30 miles west of Waianae by a Coast Guard helicopter crew at approximately 9:30 a.m. today.

A Coast Guard rescue swimmer was lowered from the helicopter to assess the situation onboard the H20 IQ; he found no one aboard but located a pack of flares with one flare missing.

The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Kiska is towing the H20 IQ to port.
