Coast Guard searching for missing teenager near Pensacola, Florida

65 New OrleansNEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Alabama Marine Police, Escambia County Sherriff’s Office and Fire Rescue personnel, Naval Air Station Pensacola Dive Team, and good Samaritans are searching for a missing teenage boy near Pensacola, Florida, Saturday.

The teenager, age 13, was reported missing to Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders, at 12:05 p.m. Saturday.

He is described as an African-American male, last seen entering the water wearing shorts and no personal floatation device.

He was attached to a tagline while participating in watersports in Sherman’s Cove, Florida, and became detached from the vessel. He was last seen in the water.

Involved in the search are:

  • Coast Guard Station Pensacola 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew
  • Coast Guard Station Pensacola 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew
  • Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 helicopter crew
