Coast Guard searching for missing swimmer off Huntington Beach Pier

SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard, Huntington Beach Police, Huntington Beach Lifeguards and Orange County Sheriffs are searching for a missing swimmer in the water near the Huntington Beach Pier that began Tuesday night.

The missing swimmer was identified as Jessy Cook. She is described as an 18-year old female, 5′ 11″, 147 lbs, brown hair and wearing a light-colored top.

At approximately 11:40 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received notification of a possible missing swimmer near the Huntington Beach Pier from Orange County Sheriffs Harbor Patrol.

Watchstanders dispatched crews aboard a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium from Coast Guard Station Los Angeles-Long Beach, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco’s Forward Operating Base Point Mugu, and the Coast Guard Cutter Narwhal to begin searching for the missing swimmer.

Huntington Beach Police, Huntington Beach Lifeguards and Orange County Sheriffs are also involved in the search.
