Coast Guard searching for missing swimmer near Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

MIAMI – Coast Guard crews are searching for a missing swimmer in the vicinity of 23rd Street and North Ocean Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Sunday.

Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale watchstanders received a report from Fort Lauderdale Police Department officers stating a 21-year-old man was struggling in the water around 2 p.m.

Crews aboard a 33-foot Special Purpose Law Enforcement boat crew, a 41-foot Utility boat from Station Fort Lauderdale, a HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Miami and a Broward County Sheriff’s Office helicopter crew are searching for the missing man. Fort Lauderdale Police officers and Fort Lauderdale Fire and Rescue personnel are searching on the beach.
