JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Coast Guard is searching for a swimmer who disappeared at Fernandina Beach, Fla., Friday at approximately 3 p.m.
Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville watchstanders received a call at approximately 3 p.m., from Nassau County Sheriff’s Office indicating that a 16-year-old male was swimming with a friend and was reportedly swept out by a rip current.
Rescue crews searching on scene are:
- Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew
- Coast Guard Station Mayport, Fla., 45-foot rescue boat crew
- Two 33-foot boat rescue crews from Coast Guard Marine Force Protection Unit Kings Bay, Ga.
- Fernandina Beach Fire and Rescue crews
