Coast Guard searching for missing swimmer in Atlantic City, NJ

PHILADELPHIA – The Coast Guard is searching for a swimmer who went missing near Steel Pier in Atlantic City, New Jersey at approximately 10 p.m.Tuesday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay were notified by the Atlantic City Police Department that a bystander saw a man enter the water by Steel Pier, but not return.

The Coast Guard launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Coast Guard Station Atlantic City along with an MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City to conduct initial searches.

The Coast Guard Cutter Mako, an 87-foot patrol boat based out of Cape May, was diverted to the scene and searched throughout the night.
