Coast Guard searching for missing swimmer at Euclid Beach Park

Great Lakes Coast Guard NewsCLEVELAND — The Coast Guard joined the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and Cleveland Police and Fire Departments in the search for a missing man last seen in the water at Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland, Tuesday evening.

A search-and-rescue controller at Coast Guard Sector Buffalo, N.Y., was notified by a Cleveland 911 dispatcher at 9 p.m., who reported a missing 19-year-old man who was last seen in the water by friends at Euclid Beach Park.

A rescue boatcrew launched aboard a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium from Coast Guard Station Cleveland Harbor, and a rescue aircrew launched aboard a Coast Guard Air Station Detroit MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter to assist.

“It’s a small search area, but the Coast Guard is saturating it with all assets available,” said Petty Officer 1st Class James Potter, a search-and-rescue controller at Sector Buffalo.
