Coast Guard Searching for Missing Swimmer

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif.- The U.S. Coast Guard, Laguna Beach Police Department, and Laguna Beach Lifeguards began searching for a missing free diver yesterday evening near Aliso Creek in Laguna Beach.

Laguna Beach Police Department recieved a call reporting a missing free diver who was spear fishing. The man was reported to be with three other spear fishermen when he went missing. Laguna Beach Police Department contacted the Coast Guard who launched an HH-65 helicopter from Air Station Los Angeles as well as a 41′ patrol boat from Station Los Angeles-Long Beach. Local authorities launched assets as well, including a helicopter and a fire boat.

The search for the missing swimmer continues this morning with local authorities and the Coast Guard is standing by to provide further assistance.
