Coast Guard searching for missing person in the water near Seaside Park, Conn.

45 Cape Cod CanalBRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Coast Guard crews are searching for a person in the water, in the vicinity of Seaside Park, Connecticut, Sunday evening.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound command center received a report from the Bridgeport Police Department of a missing person in the water wearing a white T-shirt and no life jacket in the vicinity of Seaside Park, at approximately 5:15 p.m. Sunday.

It was reported that at approximately 4:30 p.m. two men entered the water from their 14-foot inflatable raft. One male was able to swim to shore but lost sight of the other person in the water.

A Coast Guard Station New Haven, 45-foot Response Boat-Medium and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod were launched to search for the missing person in the water.

Bridgeport and Fairfield Fire Departments are also assisting with the search.
