Coast Guard searching for missing person in Indian Slough near Discovery Bay

SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard is searching for a missing man in Indian Slough Near Discovery Bay, Sunday.

At approximately 4:15 a.m., Coast Guard Sector San Francisco received a report of a person in the water in Indian Slough near Discovery Bay.

Missing is Efferin Cruz, a man in his mid 30’s, approximately 5’6″ and 185 lbs.

Cruz entered the water when the small inflatable craft he was in popped.

A Coast Guard Station Rio Vista 29-foot Response Boat-Small and a Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco MH-65 Dolphin helicopter arrived on scene at approximately 5:05 a.m. and began searching. Costa County Sherriff’s personnel are also assisting in the search for the individual.

A Coast Guard Station Rio Vista Auxiliary boatcrew relieved the RB-S and Dolphin crews around 9:40 a.m. to continue the search.
