Coast Guard searching for missing man near Santa Monica Pier

SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard is searching for a missing person in the water near the Santa Monica Pier Saturday.

The missing person was described to be an African-American male in his mid-30’s, wearing blue jeans and a red t-shirt.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received notification of a confirmed missing person near the Santa Monica Pier from the Los Angeles County Fire Dispatch.

Currently, crews aboard a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium from Coast Guard Station Los Angeles-Long Beach, the Coast Guard Cutter Halibut and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco’s Forward Operating Base Point Mugu are searching for the missing swimmer.
