CLEVELAND — The Coast Guard is currently searching for a man who jumped off of a sailing vessel in Irondequoit Bay, N.Y., Friday afternoon.
At 5 p.m., a search-and-rescue controller at Coast Guard Sector Buffalo, N.Y., was contacted by a 911 operator who had received a report of a man jumping off a sailing vessel in Irondequoit Bay, N.Y. The reporting source was another person from the vessel who stated the man was not wearing a life jacket when he jumped and could not locate him in the water.
Coast Guard Sector Buffalo issued an urgent marine information broadcast to inform boaters in the area of the situation.
A rescue boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Rochester, N.Y., launched aboard a 47-foot Motor Life Boat to search.
Also searching is a rescue crew from the Webster, N.Y., Fire Department.
