Coast Guard Searching For Missing Louisiana Man

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard, along with the Terrabonne Parish Sheriff’s Department, are searching for Keith Abarr, Jr., a 20-year-old man who went missing Friday evening while he was kayaking in Lake Montegut.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a call at approximately 8 p.m., Friday from the Terrabone Parish Sheriff’s Department who received a call from the man’s uncle reporting him missing.

Rescue boatcrews from Coast Guard Station Grande Isle and an HH-65C Rescue Helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans immediately began searches last night. The Coast Guard and Terrabonne Parish Sheriff’s Department are continuing the search throughout the day.
