NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard, in conjunction with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office, are searching for a girl who reportedly went missing after a boating accident near Shell Beach, Saturday.
Search and Rescue assets are:
- An MH-65C helicopter and crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans;
- A 25-foot response boat and crew from Coast Guard Station New Orleans;
- Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries;
- St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received notification at approximately 5:40 p.m., from the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office, reporting that two pleasure crafts collided approximately one-half of a mile north of Campos Marina, near Shell Beach. An 11-year-old female was ejected from the vessel and was reportedly not wearing a life jacket.
An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast has been issued.
