Coast Guard searching for missing fisherman near Indian River, Del.

INDIAN RIVER, DEL. – The Coast Guard is searching for a 59-year-old man who is missing after fishing from the Indian River Inlet jetty Tuesday.

Missing is Jole Thompson.

The Coast Guard received a call at 9:19 a.m. from a member of the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control reporting Thompson had gone fishing at 11:30 p.m. Monday, and hasn’t returned home. Thompson’s car is still parked in the parking lot with his cell phone inside.

A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., a rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Indian River is searching for the man and the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Mako, homeported in Cape May, N.J., is en route to assist in the search.
