MIAMI — Coast Guard crews are searching for a diver Wednesday reported missing approximately 9 miles southwest of Marquesas Key.
The 46-year-old man was reported missing on VHF Channel 16 about 12 p.m. by a friend after he failed to return from a dive. The recreational vessel he was diving from found the man’s dive buoy and spear gun in the water. He was last seen wearing a camouflage wetsuit.
Coast Guard Sector Key West issued an urgent marine information broadcast requesting mariners to be on the look out for a possible person in the water.
A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 helicopter crew, an Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry and a Coast Guard Station Key West 33-foot boat crew are searching for the diver.
