SAN PEDRO, Calif. – The U. S. Coast Guard is currently conducting a search in Emerald Bay near Catalina for a diver who was reported missing at approximately 11:00 pm Monday night.

A Coast Guard response boat medium and helicopter are conducting a search for the missing diver.  Baywatch and the Sheriff’s department are also assisting with the search.

The Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach Command Center has worked two similar cases in the past few days; a testament to the dangers of the ocean and the need for mariners and general public to take the appropriate precautions when participating in maritime activities.

The Coast Guard recommends filing a boat or dive plan with family or friends, and be sure to wear a life jacket while operating your boat.
