Coast Guard searching for missing crewmember

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is searching for a crewmember who reportedly went missing in the Gulf of Mexico Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, 12-miles south of Terrebonne Bay.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at noon today from a crewmember aboard the fishing vessel, Captain Luu, reporting that a 51-year-old man was missing from the vessel.

A 33-foot rescue boat and crew from Station Grand Isle and a HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew from Air Station New Orleans were launched to the scene to search for the crewmember.

An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast (UMIB) has also been issued to alert mariners in the area.
