Coast Guard searching for missing boater south of Francis Scott Key Bridge

BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard is searching Monday for a missing 40-year-old man approximately two miles south of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

Missing is David Frantzen.

A member of the Maryland Natural Resource Police contacted Coast Guard Sector Baltimore watchstanders at approximately 7:30 a.m. requesting assistance in recovering a deceased individual at Stony Creek.

At approximately 2 p.m., crews located a boat aground at Sparrows Point with a purse identifying the female and a wallet belonging to Frantzen.

It was later confirmed the deceased and Frantzen departed aboard the boat Sunday between 10 a.m. and noon.

Sector watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a crew from Coast Guard Station Curtis Bay aboard a 45-foot Response Boat – Medium.
