Coast Guard searching for missing boater near Glen Cove, New York

NEW YORK — The Coast Guard and local agencies are searching for a boater that went missing near Glen Cove, N.Y., Saturday afternoon.

Missing is Ralph Fletcher, a man in his 50s.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New York were notified of a grounded 21-foot boat with a number of personal items aboard including the owner’s cell phone, wallet, and keys as well as a dog aboard the boat.

Sector watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast, and launched Coast Guard Station Kings Point.

  • Port Washington Police Department
  • Sands Point Police Department
  • West Chester Police Department

Coast Guard units and local agencies continue to search for the missing boater. If anyone has heard from Mr. Fletcher or has seen him, please contact the Coast Guard or local authorities.
