Coast Guard searching for missing boater

MOBILE, Ala. – The Coast Guard is searching for a 43-year-old man who went missing in St. Louis Bay, Miss., yesterday after the boat he and three other men were in capsized.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Station Gulfport received a report from a person driving over the Bay St. Louis Bridge of a capsized vessel with persons in the water at approximately 5 p.m. last night. The Coast Guard immediately launched a 25-foot rescue boatcrew from Station Gulport and a HH-65C rescue helicopter crew from Air Station New Orleans to join the Mississippi Department of Marine Resouces, local Sheriff’s Department and Fire Department in the search.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., three of the four boaters were rescued by the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources. Only two of the people rescued were wearing life jackets. All three are reported to be in good condition.

The missing man is described as a 43-year-old black male, wearing blue jeans, t-shirt and no life jacket. Anyone with information that may assist with the search is asked to contact the Coast Guard at (251) 441-6213.
