Coast Guard searching for missing 9-year-old boy near Hunting Island, S.C.

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Search and rescue crews from the Coast Guard and partner agencies have been searching for a 9-year-old boy after it was reported he fell off rocks near Hunting Island, S.C., Monday afternoon.

The Coast Guard Sector Charleston operations center was notified via 911 dispatch at approximately 2:09 p.m. about a possible missing boy near Hunting Island Lighthouse. Family friends of the young swimmer later confirmed the disappearance. ??

A 25-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Tybee Island, Ga., an HH-65 rescue helicopter crew from Air Facility Charleston, the Beaufort County, S.C., Sheriff’s department, and Fripp Island, S.C., Sea Rescue are all part of the search.

    Was there when the 9 year old went missing. I tried to get info. From Park ranger so i possibly might help since I knew CPR and have saved others before in my life time.I was told He was not allowed to tell me any thing That radio tower was handling that . Well Hello Did they HANDLE IT Apparently not.Such a shame.
