Coast Guard searches for missing 17-year-old in Newport Harbor

Northeast Atlantic Coast Guard NewsBOSTON — The Coast Guard is searching for a missing 17-year-old boy in Newport Harbor, R.I., Tuesday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England in Woods Hole, Mass., received a call at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, from a woman reporting that her son, Theodore Oliviera, had last been seen on a dingy in Newport Harbor at approximately 11 p.m. Monday.

He was reported missing to the mother by a friend of Oliviera, who had seen him the night before.

Searching are:

  • Coast Guard Station Castle Hill, R.I., rescue boat crews
  • Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew
  • Narragansett Marine Task Force crews
