Coast Guard searching for man near Ventura Harbor entrance

Coast Guard 45-foot response boat-medium (RB-M) file photo by Petty Officer 2nd Class Seth JohnsonSAN PEDRO, Calif. – The Coast Guard is actively searching for a 65-year-old male, after the individual’s vessel was reported to have capsized while fishing outside the Ventura Harbor entrance at around 8:30 p.m., Friday.

The male was onboard a 15-foot Boston Whaler recreational vessel with one additional person. Upon capsizing the other individual onboard was able to swim safely to shore.

The Coast Guard currently has a HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles and a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Channel Island searching for the individual, along with several agency partners from the local area.

If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of the individual, they are urged to immediately contact the Coast Guard Command Center in San Pedro at (310) 521-3805.
