Coast Guard Searching for Man Near Tarpon Springs, Florida

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. – The Coast Guard has been searching for a man 35-miles west of Tarpon Springs, Fla., since about 4:20 p.m. today after he was reported to have fallen overboard from the 35-foot shrimping vessel Charlie’s Girl.

Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a call from the captain of Charlie’s Girl at 4:17 p.m. today reporting that a man had fallen overboard for unknown reasons. A crewmember jumped in the water and attempted to bring him back aboard the vessel without success.

Coast Guard Station Sand Key, in Clearwater, Fla., immediately launched a 41-foot response boat, and Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater launched an HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter to search the area.
