Coast Guard searching for man in Mississippi River

ALTON, Ill. – The Coast Guard is searching for a 26-year-old male who reportedly went missing, Monday, while boating in the Mississippi River near mile marker 207.

At about 5:21 p.m., Coast Guard Sector Upper Mississippi River watchstanders received a report from local media stating that a pleasure craft capsized in the river with two people on board. One person swam to shore and the second person is missing.

The man reported missing has red hair and was wearing a white shirt and blue shorts.

Currently searching are a 25-foot response boat and crew from Coast Guard Sector Upper Mississippi River and Missouri Water Patrol.

An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast was issued to mariners in the area.
