Coast Guard searching for crashed Oregon Air National Guard F-15

SEATTLE – The Coast Guard is searching for the pilot of an Oregon Air National Guard F-15 jet that crashed approximately 50 nautical miles west of Tillamook Head, Ore., at 1:35 p.m. today.

A Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Astoria, Ore., a Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station North Bend, Ore., and a Coast Guard C-130 Hercules from Air Station Sacramento, Calif., have been dispatched and are searching. Additionally Coast Guard Cutters Active, homeported in Astoria, and Osprey, homeported in Port Townsend, Wash., are en route to assist.

Debris was sighted by search units 50 nautical miles west of Tillamook Head. The initial call for help placed the aircraft 35 nautical miles west of Cannon Beach, Ore.
