Coast Guard searching for boy off the western coast of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Coast Guard rescue crews are searching Thursday for a 17-year-old boy in waters off the western coast of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

The boy reportedly jumped off the Crash Boat Beach pier in Aguadilla to go swimming Wednesday night, when his friends lost sight of him and he was not able to swim back to shore

Search and Rescue Coordinators at Coast Guard Sector San Juan received a call from a 911 emergency operator at 11:57p.m. Wednesday, who relayed the report from one of the boy’s friend.

Rescue crews aboard MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopters from Coast Gard Air Station Borinquen, Aguadilla and the Coast Guard Cutter Farallon are searching alongside Puerto Police Joint Forces of Rapid Action air and maritime units on scene.
