Coast Guard searching for boater in distress

BALTIMORE – The Coast Guard is searching the Patapsco River near Bodkin Creek for a missing boater today.

Watch standers from Coast Guard Sector Baltimore received a call at 7:40 p.m. Thursday, from the operator of a 16-foot vessel taking on water and requesting assistance from Tow Boat US.

Sector Baltimore lost communications with the boater and launched rescue crews from Coast Guard Station Curtis Bay and Air Station Atlantic City N.J. In addition, crews from the Maryland Natural Resources Police, the Maryland State Police and Tow Boat US searched throughout the night.

Station Curtis Bay and Air Station Atlantic City are continuing with a first light search.
