Coast Guard searching for 2 possible missing swimmers

SAVANNAH, Ga. The Coast Guard is searching for two people swimming near Tybee Island, Ga., approximately 250 yards from the beach Sunday afternoon.

The Coast Guard received the initial call from a good Samaritan who reported two people struggling to swim back to shore. The reporting source noted that the people were being taken out with the current.

Two rescue helicopters from Coast Guard Air Station Savannah, a 25-foot rescue boat from Coast Guard Station Tybee Island, two jet skis from Tybee Island Ocean rescue and a rescue boat from Chatham County are searching for the swimmers.
