Coast Guard Searching for 2 Kayakers

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Coast Guard search and rescue crews are searching for two men that went out in one kayak from Seabrook Island, S.C. at approximately 3:30 p.m. today.

Stephen Lee, 27, and Jeremy Scott, 28, residences unknown, departed Sebrook Island in a yellow kayak with a fishing pole. They were reported missing by a family member when they didn’t return as expected.

A Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston helicopter, Coast Guard station Charleston small boat and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources have all searched for the missing men in the Seabrook Island area. Search and rescue crews from station Charleston are still searching and the Coast Guard Cutter Tarpon, from Tybee Island, Ga., is en route to assist in the search.

Family members reported that the men were not wearing life jackets when they departed. The seas are reported as four-to-six-feet and winds at 25-knots.
