ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— The Coast Guard is searching for two people aboard a 27-foot 1976 Almond Hunter sailing vessel near St. Petersburg, Florida, Friday.
Missing are Bogdan Makowski, 69, and Elizabeth Makowski, 61, of Hudson, Florida.
A friend of the Makowski’s contacted Coast Guard Station Sand Key, Florida, at 9:51 a.m., because she had not heard from the couple since Aug. 24 and had expected them back Aug. 26.
The couple were last known to be sailing with a disabled engine in the vicinity of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, St. Petersburg, heading to Skeletion Key Marina in Hudson, Florida on Aug. 24.
A C-130 Hercules aircraft rescue crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Florida, is searching for the couple.
