Coast Guard searches Patillas, Puerto Rico waters and beaches for missing swimmer

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Coast Guard rescue crews continue searching for a missing swimmer Tuesday who went missing Monday in waters off of Patillas Beach, Puerto Rico.

The missing swimmer is Xavier Cruz Guzmán, 21 year-old man, who reportedly was swimming approximately 100 meters from shore, when according to eye witness reports he was last seen going under water and never resurfacing.

Coast Guard Sector San Juan Controllers received a telephone call from a 911 emergency operator, who notified them of the incident.

Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen, Aguadilla launched an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter Monday night to search for the missing swimmer. Coast Guard helicopter crews continue searching for Cruz Guzmán Tuesday, alongside Puerto Rico Emergency Management and Police Joint Force for Rapid Action (F.U.R.A.) rescue crews.
