HOUSTON — The Coast Guard is searching for a swimmer who went missing Wednesday afternoon off Galveston near the 61st Street fishing pier.

The missing man is reported to be named Jacobi, a 20-year-old African-American male who was last seen wearing red shorts and no shirt.

At 6:57 p.m., Galveston Police Department dispatchers called Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders to pass on a report of a swimmer that had submerged beneath the waters near 63rd and Seawall Boulevard and did not come back up.
