Coast Guard searches for possible missing person after capsized boat found

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Coast Guard is searching for a possible missing boater in Jacksonville after capsized boat was found Sunday.

Operation watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville received report from a good Samaritan on the 900-foot motor vessel, the Beaumont, of a capsized 20-foot boat, 27-miles off Jacksonville at approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

In response to the possibility of a missing boater a Coast Guard Station Mayport, Fla., 45-foot Response Boat Medium rescue crew launched at approximately 3:00 p.m. to search nearby area, along with an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter rescue crew from Air Station Clearwater, Fla.

Two Navy helicopters are also searching in the nearby area.

An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast (UMIB) has been issued to alert mariners of a possible missing person, and a request to local marinas to check for accountability of persons has been made.
