Coast Guard Searches for Overboard Woman

BALTIMORE – The Coast Guard is searching for a woman that fell overboard in the Sassafras River this evening.

The Coast Guard received a call at 7:57 p.m. from the husband of Sharon Andrews, 61, from Monkton, Md., reporting that she had fallen off the back of their 27-foot cuddy cabin boat into the Sassafras River.

The Coast Guard launched a 25- foot response boat crew from Coast Guard Station Stillpond, Md., and a HH-65 rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J.

The Coast Guard has been searching for over three hours and has covered over 10 nautical miles.

Andrews was last seen wearing a yellow windbreaker, she was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the fall.
