Coast Guard searches for missing swimmer near Juno Beach

MIAMI — Coast Guard search-and-rescue crews are searching for a missing swimmer in the vicinity of Juno Beach, Florida, Sunday evening.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet received a call from Juno Beach Police Department at approximately 6:30 p.m. regarding Yusnjear Sonora, 27-year-old male, who was reported missing by a friend who stated he was struggling in the water. He was last seen swimming north of Juno Beach Pier before he went missing.

Several Coast Guard assets were launched to begin searching for the missing swimmer.

Rescue crews from the Coast Guard Cutter Robert Yered, Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet, Florida, and Coast Guard Air Station Miami are searching for Sonora alongside Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and Juno Beach Police Department.
