Coast Guard Searching for Missing Swimmer in Stamford, CT

STAMFORD, CONN. – Members from the U.S. Coast Guard along with several local agencies are searching for a 12-year-old boy near Cove Island Park, Conn., June 21, 2013.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound, in New Haven, Conn., were contacted by the Darien Police Department, at approximately 2 p.m., reporting that a young swimmer had gone missing after he was last seen with a group of friends in the vicinity of Cove Island Park.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Eatons Neck, in Northport, N.Y., and a rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod in Cape Cod, Mass., members of the Stamford, Norwalk and Darien Police Department, along with rescue and dive teams from local agencies are all assisting in the search for the boy.

The boy was reported to have been wearing blue swim shorts.
