AURORA, N.C. – The Coast Guard is assisting local agencies in a search for a missing person in the vicinity of Muddy Creek off the Pamlico River Saturday.
Missing is John Cunningham Sr., of Aurora.
Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watchstanders received a phone call at 1:59 p.m., from a good Samaritan, reporting that an 18 to 20-foot skiff was going in circles without an operator aboard.
A Coast Guard Station Hobucken response boat crew is on scene assisting Beaufort County Sheriff personnel and other local agencies in the search for the missing man.
It has been confirmed that he departed on the skiff earlier Saturday.
